| The philosophy of Conservation Artisans is that not all conservation treatments can or should be rote. It's true enough that many times the same approach will be taken; but, that should not be a foregone conclusion. Each monument is studied thoroughly and scientifically as much as is feasible. Historical documents are consulted whenever available, to understand past restoration attempts and their ramifications. Treatment is then carried out with the utmost care and technical skill. And a consortium of experts are called upon wherever specialized needs are identified. |
