A group of three early 20th c. Broadway theaters being converted for commercial use were subjected to cleaning tests on terra cotta and marble, as well as laboratory material analysis tests such as salts analysis, mortar analysis, and water vapor transmission tests. Research was performed on the use of acrylic and polyurethane coatings as glaze replacement on terra cotta; lime mortar types and their water vapor transmission properties were investigated.
